making a list. checking it twice.

So Christmas just came and went and so the new year is upon us. In less than a week, I'm going to have to get used to writing 2011 at the back of the dates instead of 2010.

For the last few days left of good ol' 2010, I'm going to make a list of things that I enjoyed/hated about the year. Lists about what I love and all that good stuff :D

Today's list will be the Top 10 movies you HAD to have seen this year, as well as the Top 5 of movies I cannot believe people (myself included) actually paid to go and see. (FYI: this is just my opinion. You can disagree or whatever if you want to.)

Top 10 (no particular order BTW....)

1. Inception (Sheer genius. The fact that throughout the entire movie, my head was spinning trying to figure out what the hell was happening and yet still managed to keep up with the storyline was unbelievable. Gotta love a movie that made you think. If only school was this interesting......)

2. TRON:Legacy (First off, the music in this movie was crazy. LOVED IT! Daft Punk are uber cool. The graphics in this movie was awesome. It sort of made the movie almost. Then again. the original was made back in 1982 so the graphics kinda had to be way better. That said, the movie was really enjoyable to watch.)

3. The Social Network (Who would have thought that the creator of Facebook had to go through all that shit and lost all his friends for creating a website that now links a hell of a lot of people together. The way this movie was shot and the way they skip from the past to the present was fantastic. The whole movie kept my attention and when it was over, I just wanted to watch it all over again. Love movies like that. Don't you?)

4. Toy Story 3 (What can I say? I grew up watching it and until now, it remains one of my favorite movie series ever. Having looked forward to watching it ever since I found out it was going to be released, it sure didn't disappoint. As sad as I was to see it end and to watch all the toys find their own closure, I'm glad I'm not too old to appreciate it. Pixar movies are the best.)

5. Shutter Island (Just like Inception, this is another movie that made you think and had a complicated storyline that didn't confuse you until you just couldn't enjoy the movie but made it a brilliant film to watch. Movies like these are what makes me such a movie addict.)

6. Nightmare on Elm Street (Sometimes horror movies freak me out. Sometimes its just way too scary for me and I have to close my eyes and block out a majority of the movie but not this one. I've always been a fan of Freddy and his twisted killing ways. The fact that he terrorizes children is creepy and extremely disturbing but it makes one hell of a great film. Needless to say, I enjoyed watching this movie very much.)

7. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 (I gotta put this on the list. I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan and the way that this movie was more about Harry, Ron and Hermoine was interesting. I know some people found the movie very slow and lacked action but hey, its only part 1. It was kinda supposed to be that way. Can't wait for Part 2!)

8. My Soul To Take (Another slasher/horror flick. It had an interesting twist though. The whole time throughout the movie, I was trying to guess who the killer was and just when I was sure it had to be this one kid, the movie throws a curve ball and its revealed that his best friend was the killer all along. The fact that the kid who I thought was the killer was also schizophrenic was kind of a giveaway for me but apparently not. Love movies that aren't so predictable.)

9. The Town (Ben Affleck was born to direct. The last movie I saw which he also directed was Gone Baby Gone and that was one of the best films I've seen in my life. This is no different. The intricate story-lines and the way everything just came together was just great. Watch it people!)

10. Takers (Classic movie about a group of dudes who steal for a living and never get caught. Then someone betrays them and they end up trying to cover their own tracks and finally almost get caught but not quite. For some reason, these type of movies interest me and I always enjoy watching them. Only downside of the film, they killed Hayden Christensen's character. WTF!)

Honorable mentions: Tangled, Iron Man 2, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Red, Piranha 3D, The Crazies, The Book of Eli

Top 5 (aka the shit list......)

1. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (I hate the Twilight series. I was a big fan of the 1st book though. Alas, as soon as the movies came out, I nearly puked on myself. Now I spend a teeny tiny portion of my time thinking about what was I smoking when I was ever a fan of this shit. Only reason I actually watched this movie (and no I never paid to watch this monstrosity) was Xavier Samuel. Damn is that boy fine or what!)

2. Let Me In (Now I know this list is becoming sort of vampire themed but don't get me wrong, I happen to love vampire themed shows and all that, just not this one. Before I watched the movie, I read a review that said it was definitely worth watching and that it was similar to the original so it wasn't gonna be tacky and boring but boy was I completely mislead by that! The entire movie was so unbearably dull and the girl who was a vampire was just so plain and confused the whole time. I just completely didn't get the movie. AT. ALL.)

3. Tooth Fairy (Seriously, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson should stop making these stupid movies and stick to starring it those cool looking action packed movies. I mean how the hell do you expect people to take you seriously when you're starring in a movie in which you're a tooth fairy and you wear a freaking tutu?!)

4. The Last Song (Usually I'm a fan of movies which are based on books and all that jazz. However, this time is completely bombed. Before watching the movie, I obviously read the book so that I knew what the whole thing was about and so I kinda would know what to expect. Turns out I loved the book and loathed the movie. Miley Cyrus cannot act. She may be the queen of the whole 'double identity' thing but clearly she wasn't right for the part in this particular movie. I actually believe that if they had gotten someone better to play her part, the movie might have turned out a whole lot better.)

5. Get Him to the Greek (I have yet to find out the point of this movie. Almost 2 hours of my life was just gone, wasted from watching this crap.)

There you have it folks. Tomorrow will be another list! (If I don't forget that is. I suck at keeping blogs. I have too many.)
